Your Ultimate Resource for Enriching Educational Travel!

Introducing STAcademy!

by Jamie Schoenbauer

STA is proud to present its newest webpage for teachers - the STAcademy! Our goal is to help make your teaching and travel as easy as possible.  Our new site is designed to help you engage your students before and during their travel in unique and enriching ways. We offer relevant lesson plans, thrilling scavenger hunts, rich information guides and destination slides, and creative travel journals. This platform has something for everyone!

Lesson Plans

Save time and enhance your teaching with our pre-designed lesson plans, specifically crafted to support your class trip and student learning. We currently have lesson plans for The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, mapping DC, and a study of the words of Abraham Lincoln, just to name a few.

Scavenger Hunts

One of the most exciting features of the site is the mobile scavenger hunts. These hunts are a fun, competitive way for your students to interact with the sites they visit. The scavenger hunt is a Google Form with challenges and questions. It can be shared via Google Classroom or another learning platform. Points are earned by completing the challenge or answering the question. Once the form is submitted, you, the teacher, can see their answers and check the point totals. The travelers can compete as teams or individually.

Information Guides/Destination Guides

These comprehensive guides cover a wide array of STA travel stops. Our guides include location descriptions, interesting trivia, puzzles, and site images. These guides provide an exciting preview of the trip ahead. The information guides are in booklet form, while the destination guides are in PowerPoint or Keynote formats. These are excellent options to share with travelers you don’t see in the classroom.

Travel Journals

The travel journal feature takes learning to the next level by allowing students to document their educational journey creatively. Whether you try the before, during, and after travel journal or the daily one, this gives your students the chance to capture moments from the trip that they can look back on forever.

Take time to check out STA’s new STAcademy webpage today and see for yourself the wealth of resources that will make your travel experience more engaging and enriching for your students. Don’t forget to explore our Education STAtion page for professional development resources. We’re excited to support you in bringing educational travel to life!
