Even though Flat Abe hasn’t personally set foot in every destination yet, he loves traveling to new places, so be sure to include him in your journey.

Download and print Flat Abe, then let the adventures begin! Here is a creative way to incorporate him into your trip:  

Step 1: Pre-Trip Brainstorming Activity
Before the trip, have students list the places they’re most excited to visit and research the history behind them. Challenge them to think about: 

• What historical events took place there?
• Why is this location important?
• What fun fact can they share about it?

This activity will get them thinking critically and excited to see history come to life!  

Step 2: Photo Scavenger Hunt
Make your trip more interactive by taking Flat Abe on a photo scavenger hunt! Have students snap a picture with him at least three locations during the trip.

After your adventure, keep the memories alive by creating a digital scrapbook or slideshow featuring all of Flat Abe’s travels. This could be a fun class project where students contribute their favorite photos, write captions, and reflect on their favorite moments. 

Not only will this serve as a fantastic keepsake, but it can also inspire future students who are gearing up for their own STA trip.
