MIKIE J. RED, WHITE, AND BLUE MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
Mikie, an STA Tour Representative and beloved group leader, inspired us all with his unwavering belief in the transformative power of educational travel. This scholarship, established in Mikie's memory, reflects his tireless dedication to ensuring all students have access to life-changing travel experiences. This $1,000 scholarship will help a deserving student experience a fully immersive educational tour with School Tours of America. Group Leaders will nominate deserving students, and the STA Scholarship Board will select the recipient. Applications for this year's recipient are closed, the new application window will open July 1st, 2025 and close January 1st, 2026.

SYTA ROAD SCHOLARSHIP
The Road Scholarship program awards funds to students and youth who would otherwise not have the resources to participate in enriching and life-changing travel experience opportunities. The maximum award is $1,000 for individuals and $5,000 for groups.

Some national companies have established grants for travel and education. These grants are generally awarded to a group and thus require the Group Leader or Teacher to apply. Please review each program for guidelines and requirements. *Note: these are third party websites not controlled or operated by STA.
GRANT WRITING TIPS:
- Clearly demonstrate the value of the trip and how it will benefit you academically. Explain how it will enhance your knowledge and impact your learning.
- Give a detailed budget. Break down all travel expenses, including airfare, accommodations, admissions, etc.
- Carefully read and follow the application requirements and deadlines of the grant program. Give yourself plenty of time to prepare your application.
- Present your information clearly and concisely, avoiding jargon and unnecessary details. Use clear topic sentences and short paragraphs. Organize your writing using headings, bulleted lists, and white space to make your application easy to read. Avoid unnecessary repetition.
- Proofread! Double and triple-check your application for any grammatical errors or inconsistencies. Ask a friend to proofread your application for typos, missing words, and unclear writing.
